INTRO: PADI OXYGEN PROVIDER COURSE ON KOH TAO
Early administration of oxygen is a recognized diving industry standard for treatment of victims suffering suspected DCS and other diving related injuries.
As a certified diver or aspiring dive professional, the PADI Emergency Oxygen Provider rating is a one of the most important qualifications you can hold. Though hopefully you’ll never have to apply them, the skills learned during your oxygen provider training could make a big difference in a diving emergency.
SKILLS COVERED IN THE O2 PROVIDER SPECIALTY
At Simple Life Divers we run the PADI Oxygen Provider training over one full day.
You will begin by reviewing important theory highlighted in the PADI Oxygen Provider Manual. The O2 provider manual includes PADI’s ‘care-at-a-glance’ card which provides you with a quick reference material to be used for use in the event of a diving accident.
Next we’ll review and refresh your CPR skills and knowledge. (It’s recommended that you complete the Emergency First Response course either prior on in conjunction with the O2 provider training).
You will learn the correct ways to set up an emergency oxygen kit to minimize risk of fire or explosion, then practice how to administer oxygen to a range of different patients; breathing, weakly breathing and non-breathing divers.
Finally, you’ll review of decompression sickness (DCS) and practice a layman’s neurological test.
